Pour Decisions · Effective August 23, 2026
Pour Decisions is built so that we know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. We never ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information, and we never sell data to anyone.
Your collection stays yours
Everything you put into Pour Decisions — bottles, photos, tasting notes, ratings, history, stores, and infinity bottles — is stored on your device. On iPhone, if you turn on iCloud Sync, that data syncs to the private iCloud database attached to your own Apple Account. Private iCloud data is accessible only to you: we have no servers that hold it, no way to read it, and no way to recover it on your behalf. On Android there is no sync — your collection stays on the device; if you use Android's own device backup, the system may include the app's data in the backup tied to your Google Account, which works like any other app's system backup and is not something we can read. Photos you take or pick are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to us.
AI Suggestions
AI Suggestions are optional and off by default. When you use them, the bottle name you typed is sent securely to our servers, where it is used to run a web search and an AI extraction that suggest details for that bottle. Raw search-provider results are cached on our servers short-term to keep costs down. Separately, the bottle details we extract — together with the public web text and search results they were drawn from — are retained on our servers indefinitely as a shared, bottle-name-keyed reference database, so we can improve suggestions over time and avoid repeating the same lookups. Everything we store here is keyed only to bottle-name text and public web content, with no identifier connecting it to you or your device, and we do not keep per-user query histories.
A small set of infrastructure providers process this traffic on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and AI inference), and Exa or Tavily (web search — whichever provider serves a given request). Each receives only the bottle-name query — never your identity, your collection, or your photos.
What our servers do keep
To prevent abuse of the free tier and verify that requests come from a genuine copy of the app, our servers store a small amount of anonymous, device-level data:
- Proof that requests come from a genuine copy of the app: on iPhone, an Apple App Attest key (a cryptographic public key tied to genuine Apple hardware); on Android, a Google Play Integrity verdict that is checked when the app connects and then discarded — it is not stored.
- An anonymous, randomly generated device identifier used to count free AI Suggestions credits. This counter is deliberately durable — it persists even if you delete and reinstall the app.
- Short-lived rate-limit counters (automatically deleted within 48 hours) keyed to a pseudonymous subscription or device identifier.
- Standard short-lived technical logs kept by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for debugging and reliability — request metadata such as IP address, the endpoint called, timestamps, and status codes. These logs never include the bottle name you typed or the web results we fetched, and are deleted automatically within about a week.
None of this is connected to your name, email, Apple Account, Google Account, or anything else that identifies you, and none of it is used for advertising or tracking. In App Store privacy terms, this is “Device ID — Data Not Linked to You”; in Google Play's Data safety terms, an app-generated device ID collected for app functionality and fraud prevention, not linked to your identity. The identifier is app-minted and random — never a hardware ID or advertising ID.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled entirely by the store you bought them from — Apple on iPhone, Google Play on Android. We never see your payment details. To verify an active subscription, our servers check the pseudonymous identifier the store issues for your purchase (Apple's transaction identifier, or Google Play's purchase token, which is verified and then discarded) — neither reveals who you are.
Deleting your data
You can erase everything the app stores — locally and, on iPhone with sync on, in your private iCloud database — using Reset App in Settings. The anonymous server-side counters described above are not tied to your identity and are retained for abuse prevention; if you want them deleted anyway, email support@usepourdecisions.com from the device in question and we will remove them.
Children
Pour Decisions catalogs alcoholic beverages and is intended for people of legal drinking age. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them (or, for that matter, from anyone).
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
